DeployEMDS Sparks the Emergence of a Common European Mobility Data Space

DeployEMDS: A European Mobility Data Revolution

Published on: 17/06/2024 News

In a significant leap towards enhancing urban mobility across Europe, the DeployEMDS initiative, backed by EU funding, is set to transform the landscape of data sharing and accessibility. With a mission to foster a common European mobility data space, DeployEMDS has commenced its journey, ushering in a new era of innovation and collaboration.

Launching in November 2023 and slated to continue until October 2026, DeployEMDS boasts a robust consortium of 38 members and 7 associated partners from 11 EU member states. With a budget of approximately 8 million euros, the project aims to empower cities and regions to leverage data for improved transportation services and policymaking.

Aligned with the European data strategy and Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy, DeployEMDS will deploy operational data spaces and governance mechanisms, building upon the groundwork laid by the PrepDSpace4Mobility initiative.

Over the course of the project, 9 cities and regions will host implementation projects, targeting over 20 use cases ranging from traffic management to multimodal mobility solutions. Notable examples include Stockholm's focus on monitoring greenhouse gas emissions, Budapest's integration of various transport modes for enhanced route planning, and Sofia's endeavor to lower carbon emissions through innovative mobility solutions.

By tailoring solutions to local challenges and emphasizing tangible outcomes, DeployEMDS seeks to showcase the transformative potential of a common European mobility data space. Stakeholders are invited to engage, learn, and contribute to this groundbreaking endeavor, with project updates and resources available on the DeployEMDS website.
