Welcome to the
exchange platform
Knowledge sharing in organisations is a significant challenge in present-day societies. While it is directly related to the production, dissemination and reuse of fast-growing volumes of data, the creation, curation and sharing of reference data (lists, taxonomies, thesauri and ontologies) are absolute foundation stones of knowledge management. Throughout this process, individuals, companies, national public services and EU and international organisations deploy IT and semantic solutions in various fields, alongside efforts dedicated to the wider implementation of natural language processing, machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques. Despite all efforts, silos tend to remain, which harms the interoperability and the retrievability of information.

’LAW AS CODE’ AND INTEROPERABILITYInfrastructure and projects such as EUR-Lex, ELI and LEOS are facilitators of the "Law as code" paradigm, which underlines the need to make legislation more machine-readable.
LINKING DATA SPACESUpcoming data spaces aim to promote the sharing and re-use of data within and across sectors in Europe.
PROCUREMENT AND INTEROPERABILITYLarge-scale investments have been made in the context of the semantic modelling of eProcurement.
REFERENCE DATA GOVERNANCE IN CROSS-ORGANISATIONAL ENVIRONMENTSLarge international organisations and the EU institutions have created and maintain vast quantities of reference data in order to meet operational and legal requirements. The Linked and Open Data paradigm offers exciting possibilities to share and re-use reference data, but also holds a set of challenges. |
