The European Union is advancing its ICT strategy with a new initiative to standardise data collection and reporting across member states. This draft act, focused on ICT use in households and by individuals, sets out technical specifications, transmission formats, and quality reporting requirements to ensure comparable statistics on ICT use and e-commerce across the EU.
The feedback period for the draft act ran from April 30 to May 28 2024 and the next step for the European Commission is to adopt the regulation in the third quarter of 2024, incorporating the feedback that was received.
This initiative, an implementing regulation under committee code C37100, reflects the EU’s commitment to creating a reliable statistical framework, essential for understanding and leveraging digital transformation across Europe.
